Lit Tip of the Week: Everybody Has a Story to Tell

Everybody Has a Story to Tell. This week’s Lit Tip focuses on oral storytelling. Storytelling is one of the oldest forms of literacy and community, we all love to hear those stories from when our parents were young or something daring we did as youngsters. This is a very simple strategy that supports all aspects of literacy (listening, speaking, language development, story structure, comprehension) and studies show it is a powerful tool for cultural connectedness. Whether it’s a story from our lives or a story we come up with together, the act of telling and listening is so important socially and academically. Listen in and share a story with your family today!
