    Planting Seeds for Discussion

Having conversations with your children is an important and easy way to increase literacy skills. All you need is a book (or article, magazine, oral story, the possibilities are endless), and some time to chat. Planting seeds for discussion is a great way to get children to understand the value of generating and sharing their own ideas, active listening, and critical thinking skills about the world around them.

This Lit Tip also shares a few books to get you started on planting seeds for discussion that include:
-Intersection Allies By Chelsea Johnson, LaToya Council, & Carolyn Choi
    - Maddi's Fridge By Lois Brandt
    - Chocolate Milk, Por favor By Maria Dismondy and Nancy Raines Day
    - Oranges in No Mans Land By Elizabeth Laird
