Picture Books About Indigenous People

We want to take this time to remember, acknowledge, and learn about the Indigenous People of the land that we occupy. This community is one who continues to deal with systems of erasure and we would like to use our platform to amplify their stories and their history.

With humble hearts, we at Equity Through Literacy give thanks daily for the opportunity to fulfill our mission, for being surrounded by a community who believes in our work, and for allowing us to raise awareness and amplify the voices of marginalized communities through literacy and education.

Please check out this short list of picture books that we have curated which share stories about the Indigenous experience, many written by Indigenous authors.

We wish you well during this day, and ask that you consider having conversations about the true meaning of what it is to be thankful as a daily practice, and acknowledge and learn about the people whose land we occupy today (For us, it is the Tongva People of Southern CA).
